Checked Into Nirvana. Where Is Joy?

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 1:28 pm

Eckhart Tolle lived upto his twenty ninth year in a state of almost continual anxiety interspersed with periods of suicidal depression. Then he woke up one night with a feeling of absolute dread. The silence of the night, the vague outlines of the furniture in the dark room, the distant noise of a passing train – everything felt so alien, so hostile, and so utterly meaningless that it created in him a deep loathing of the world. “I cannot live with myself any longer.” This was the thought that kept repeating itself in his mind. Suddenly he became aware that if he could not live with himself, there had to be two – he and the “self” he could not live with. He was stunned by the realization. He became enveloped by powerful feelings.

Tolle had little memory of what happened after the powerful feelings overcame him. He woke up into a new world. His depression vanished. For the next five months, he lived in a state of uninterrupted bliss. While it diminished somewhat in intensity, for another two years, he sat on park benches in a state of the most intense joy. He felt that what he experienced was a form of enlightenment, of union with the eternal, somewhat similar to the experiences of Buddha. He quoted Buddha’s definition of enlightenment as “the end of suffering”. Tolle became a respected teacher, with dedicated followers in Europe, North America and India. His book, The Power of Now, was on the New York Times best seller list.

Both Tolle and Buddha reportedly experienced a sudden release from the intense pain of powerful negative emotions. Their joy was understandable. Across history, there were many stories of the intense rapture of sages, associated with a sudden release from the emotions of fear, dread, guilt or anger. In most cases, these were sudden happenings, when such emotions just dropped away and the person felt an intense sense of freedom. But, actually, getting rid of negative emotions could be very practical and down to earth. The mind perceives, recognizes events and then interprets those events as emotions. Emotions are just a set of nerve impulses, which fire when you recognize an event.

Paul Eckman, the world famous emotions scientist said that the evaluation that turned on an emotion happened so quickly that people were not aware it was occurring. “We become aware a quarter, or half second after the emotion begins. I do not choose to have an emotion, to become afraid, or to become angry. I am suddenly angry. I can usually figure out later what someone did that caused the emotion.” So you have no control over the emotions that are triggered when you recognize an event. But, there were things you could do to prevent a surge of those emotions.

Begin with the small turmoils. Traffic snarls, minor discourtesies. They trigger bad feelings. Just laughter could help by relaxing you. But, most people find that difficult. Instead, you could do something similar – pump your stomach – repeatedly expel air from the pelvic area. That disperses the excess adrenalin into the system and carries away the negative emotion. Ten minutes later, you may not even remember what it was that upset you. That works for most minor disturbances.

In more critical situations, emotions are the plans of primitive nature for action. Anger incites you to attack. Guilt persuades you to submit. And fear suggests you run away. But, if you have a plan of action, animal nature sits back. Negative emotions recede. There are only three things you can do when something bad happens. Do something about it. Prevent it from happening again. Or, if you can’t do anything, accept it as inevitable. So, plan, wait for time to bring you a plan, or decide to live with it. Over the years, if you are the type who plans, you will have plans to deal with most difficulties in life. So, over decades, the loud negative emotions subside.

That leaves you with those moods, which drive you crazy. You don’t know why, but you feel the world is about to end. Actually, those are internal drives, which switch on, mostly without your permission. Some stray event, which you may even have forgotten. Getting rid of moods takes a little more practice. Relaxation exercises help. Better to develop a familiar awareness of the mood. Oh, oh, here I am, in the same frame of mind again! An intense outside awareness works to kill it. Easier if you can spot the physical symptoms of the mood. A familiar strain here, a tension there. Identify it and the mood vanishes. It can be done.

So, suddenly, one day, you find you have reached Nirvana. Bad emotions rarely bother you. Those repetitive thoughts that circled around have stopped. You are able to prevent stray thoughts from coming in. You can focus your mind for long periods on a single problem, or even on just silence. The burdens of life don’t bother you. You have decided to do your best right now. Hell with the rest. You have reached. The funny thing is, there is no special joy when you get there. Only an empty silence. Could all those who were euphoric about a sudden release from pain, have kept up their joy over the years? Tolle got off the park bench after three years. Euphoria, yes. But, permanent joy doesn’t sound real.

A Healthy Marriage Relies on God’s Indisputable Truths

Filed under: University Of Relationships — admin @ 8:21 am

A healthy marriage always relies on the foundation of honesty, trust, honor, respect and commitment. These undisputable truths are found in the bible. What is undisputable truths? God designed marriage to be indissoluble. The only disclaimer for marriage is if there is physical violence and any kind of abuse to a spouse. The latter is debatable, but God’s indisputable truths is not. In other words, these are not my opinions or beliefs, but God’s.

Should adultery be included in the disclaimer for divorce? I don’t think so. What is adultery? It is a spiritual imbalance of one or both spouses unable to commit themselves to one another. The root of major issues in marriage originate from an unhealthy spiritual psyche. If you want to be justified in your adulterous affairs go to a shrink. If you want to discontinue your weakness, seek Jesus Christ. Just because the world is a supporter of divorce doesn’t justify it in the eyes of God.

God wants us to support the marriage pledge by His foundations of indisputable truths. He wants us to honor and respect our spouse for who they are, faults and all. A healthy psyche will enable couples to do that, while a spiritually bankrupt one will not. Commitment is a word that means so much to God, but yet so little to couples in their marriage. If couples were committed to their marriage they would be looking for reasons to stay together instead of reason to leave each other!

Stop looking at the grass on the other side of the fence. If you keep looking over there, soon you will see the brown spots where the dog has urinated.

Love doesn’t even factor into any of this. People use the word “love” loosely. “I love you.” What does that mean? Show me you love me and I will believe you. Give to me without wanting anything in return. Die for me if you have to. Don’t say, “I love you”, show me that you love me!

The truth most couples perceive to be correct for their marriage comes from self. The self guided tour for marriage believes in divorce, infidelity, addiction, resentment, hate, lust, bitterness of heart and immorality, etc. If we believe these truths long enough, what happens? We become dead to the indisputable truths that come from God. We remain in bondage to the sinful nature of self.

The sinful nature believes the only way out of an unhappy marriage is divorce. And isn’t it ironic how society has made it so justifiable to divorce our spouse over such pettiness. The spiritually bankrupt psyche expects happiness and contentment at all costs, and will go after it with gusto through the only understanding they know; foundation of self.

Ironically, the sinful nature even acknowledges the existence of God, but doesn’t have faith enough to pursue the indisputable truths for marital happiness and contentment. All of this error in thinking can be eliminated from the psyche. The way we think, what we believe, and what we allow into our heart and mind undeniably comes back out in the way we live, and how we direct our marriage. We live what we think. In retrospect, what we generate into our heart comes out in our actions.

Because most couples do not know any better, they end up playing god in their marriage, and in so doing, do those things which come from the selfish arena, which are in contradiction to God’s undisputable truths. For an example, if I play god, I will direct the marriage under my own understanding of what I want and what I feel. The selfish aspect of my nature tells me to do what I want, and to do what will make me happy, not considering the feelings of my spouse.

Culture of society plays itself out with this kind of error in thinking. People are like chameleons, individuality is lost, and becomes one in its beliefs. They acknowledge God exists, but can’t seem to accept the Godly truths for themselves. This self-inflicted culture is formed through the lack of spirituality, which then flourishes on rebelliousness and denial to the indisputable truths. Even though, the indisputable truths are right under their nose!

“In whom the God of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.” II Corinthians 4:4 KJV

The bottom line. The word of God is open and revealed to everyone, except for those who refuse to believe. Satan “is the god of this age” His work is to deceive, and he has blinded those who don’t believe in Jesus Christ.

To often, the allure of those selfish aspects of nature supersede the spiritual side of us, and money, power and pleasure blinds people to the light of Christ’s word. Those who have rejected Christ and prefer their own pursuits have unknowingly made satan their god.

“For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.” II Corinthians 11:13-14 KJV

Satan and his servants deceive many people by appearing to be attractive, good, and moral. Many unsuspecting marriages follow these smooth talking, bible quoting leaders and are lead into the practice of immorality, lust and deceit. Such as the practice of divorce, homosexuality, infidelity, and other immoral acts have became a thing of this new culture in the world.

The biggest and greatest truth is God’s indisputable truths never change. They always stay the same even when cultures around the world change to conform to immorality of the day, God’s words and precepts stay the same!!!

God intends marriage to be a lifetime commitment. That being the case, those entering into marriage, should never consider divorce an option for solving problems or a way out of a relationship that seems dead.

…”that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, and said, “For this cause shall a man leave father and mother and shall cleave to his wife; and they twain shall be one flesh? Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore what God hath joined together, let not man put asunder. Mathew 19: 3-6 KJV

Star Trac Used Treadmills – How Do They Really Stack Up?

Filed under: World Of Templates — admin @ 8:02 pm

Star Trac used treadmills are one of the most popular used treadmills that you can buy and it’s easy to see why. Star Trac has been around for about three decades and has always had a good reputation for always supplying good quality exercise machines and has been one of the brands that many aspire to own.

They have always offered a good standard of construction, which is one of the reasons that they still have a good reputation after so long in the treadmill and exercise machine business. Many of the current lower costing treadmill models that are for sale suffer from a lower quality of construction and do not offer the same features that a Star Trac treadmill does. This is one of the reasons that some people would rather purchase or own Star Trac used treadmills than buying a new one from a lower costing competitor or other name brand treadmills that are in the same price range.

If you are thinking of buying a used treadmill but are worried about whether it will be worn out or unreliable then you could look at buying a refurbished model. These machines are still considered used but they have the advantage of being totally refurbished by a team of engineers. This means that everything that was not working properly or was not in good condition would have been replaced. In effect it is almost a new machine but at a considerably lower cost.

If you are thinking of buying one of the many Star Trac used treadmills then this is a good way of getting a great savings without having to worry about whether a used machine is in good enough condition. In fact, the treadmill should even look like almost new because when they refurbish the machines they usually repaint them as well. As with most things if you buy a treadmill from a company other than the original Star Trac you may be able to find an even better deal. Just make sure to check that the company supplies good machines and that the work is guaranteed when you buy. Buying from the original company normally provides a guarantee that the work is good but it may cost a little more.

Star Trac used treadmills offer a great money saving alternative to buying one of the newer and cheaper treadmill machines and models. The build quality is the same as it always was and the machines are nearly as good as new. So if you are cannot afford the cost of a new Star Trac but would still like to own one then that may be a viable alternative.

17 Ways How to Spot a 1,2,3 Article and Run

Filed under: Great Publishing Tips — admin @ 11:31 pm

Aren’t you just sick of them? I am!

I’m talking about what I call “1,2,3 Articles.”

You know, 6 Ways To Braid Bat Fir, 9 Ways to Trick Your Grandmother into Leaving You in Her Will, and 12 Ways to Develop Stronger Teeth.

It’s all a ploy used by writers to overcome writer’s block or to pump out a quick article requiring little research and little work. (I’ve been told that it can be great for meeting deadlines.)

• Anyway, you need to be able to spot them. It may not be in the article title. Without reading the article look for a list using numbers or one of those things at the front of this sentence.

o This is another sneaky critter.

 And watch out for this one! (It’s so sneaky it didn’t show up.)

 Really sneaky! (Neither did this one.)

1. The old standby.

A. Don’t be fooled by this!

i. And this!

Well, you’ve got the idea, haven’t you?

Did you spot one?

Now it is time to RUN!

Now you thought that was the end of the article. Well, I’ve got news for you. Such short, trivial articles are not allowed by http://ezinearticles.com. You must have 200 words. Well, that aught to do it!

My counter says I have plenty of words, but not the site counter. It just isn’t fare! Now, maybe that will do it!

Chatting

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 7:25 pm

Chatting is a technology through which two persons sitting at a long distance come what may at the two ends of the world, can talk to each other, either in the form of writing and reading or through speaking and listening (voice chat).

Almost everyone knows that there could be anyone (an unknown) on the other end, but still people are engaged in chatting. Some people chat for entertainment, some chat for killing time or pastime, some chat for making friends, some chat for inquiring welfare about their relatives, some to gain knowledge and information and many more. There are a number of chat rooms, which provide the facility to connect the people around the world instantly. Some of most common are MSN, YAHOO, MIRC etc. At these chat rooms, one can share his/her feelings with the other people, make them friends, have fun, can get some relax and can do a lot of more things.

Nowadays almost 70-80% boys and girls are wasting their time in chatting over Internet. Even I (the writer of this article) am also included among these 80% and it is considered that no positive use of this modern technology is being exercised. As every thing has some advantages as well as disadvantages, chatting through Internet has also some advantages and disadvantages.

First of all, one advantage is for those relatives or friends who are living abroad. They can remain in touch with their families and associates and can talk to them instantly. It is useful for those parents whose children are abroad for studying or some other purposes. They become satisfied after talking to their children. There exists another kind of friendship and that is friendship over Internet. People also get some know-how of their Internet friends through the chatting technology. I took a big advantage of this technology when my teacher gave me an assignment to know about the culture of two individuals through the chatting. The Internet chatting helped me superbly. There are a lot of more advantages of chatting.

It has been a long time since I am reading stories about Internet chatting. Specially every Sunday in weekly SUNDAY MAGAZINE of Daily Jang, there is a page for these kinds of stories. Every week almost 3 to 5 stories are published continuously. And interesting thing is that majority of them have unique theme. Some tell about their tragedies, some tell about their love, some tell about the experience of making fun with friends, some tell about the experience of making new friends and losing friends, some try to betray and deceive the others but are trapped themselves.

The biggest disadvantage of chatting, in my opinion is the wastage of time. And majority of users do chatting for just pastime or cheating others.

Pakistani government is trying to minimize the wrong usage of the Internet technology including chatting and browsing but it seems that it is impossible to do that. Our majority youth has wedged in these kinds of wastages. Our youth have to realize that the future belongs to us. If we get engaged ourselves in these sorts of aimless things then what will be the future of PAKISTAN? May God bless Pakistan and Pakistani nation especially the youths!!!!

Hero’s Journey: The Mentor’s Mentor and Character Development

Filed under: Great Publishing Tips — admin @ 9:31 am

The Hero’s Journey is the template upon which the vast majority of successful stories and Hollywood blockbusters are based upon. Understanding this template is a priority for story or screenwriters.

The Hero’s Journey:

Attempts to tap into unconscious expectations the audience has regarding what a story is and how it should be told.

Gives the writer more structural elements than simply three or four acts, plot points, mid point and so on.

Interpreted metaphorically, laterally and symbolically, allows an infinite number of varied stories to be created.

The Hero’s Journey is also a study of repeating patterns in successful stories and screenplays. It is compelling that screenwriters have a higher probability of producing quality work when they mirror the recurring patterns found in successful screenplays.

Consider this:

• Titanic (1997) grossed over $600,000,000 – uses the Hero’s Journey as a template.

• Star Wars (1977) grossed over $460,000,000 – uses the Hero’s Journey as a template.

• Shrek 2 (2004) grossed over $436,000,000 – uses the Hero’s Journey as a template.

• ET (1982) grossed over $434,000,000 – uses the Hero’s Journey as a template.

• Spiderman (2002) grossed over $432,000,000 – uses the Hero’s Journey as a template.

• Out of Africa (1985), Terms of Endearment (1983), Dances with Wolves (1990), Gladiator (2000) – All Academy Award Winners Best Film are based on the Hero’s Journey.

• Anti-hero stories (Raging Bull (1980), Goodfellas (1990) etc) are all based on the Hero’s Journey.

• Heroine’s Journey stories (Million Dollar Baby (2004), Out of Africa (1980) etc) are all based on the Hero’s Journey.

The Mentor’s Mentor and Character Development

It is not unusual for the Hero’s Mentor to have his own challenges and his own mentors. This enhances the mentor’s three dimensional nature and can be used as a tool for a variety of purposes.

In Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon (2000), both Li and Shu Lien have their own Mentor (Sir Te). Here, both Li and Shu Lien have a challenge and it is a romantic one (they love each other but cannot express it).

In Gladiator (2000), Proximo has his own challenge: to rediscover his Old Self again.

In Star Wars (1977), Vader defers to Governor Tarkin.

In Empire Strikes Back (1980), Vader defers to the Emperor.

Digital SLR Camera versus a Compact Digital Camera.

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 4:35 pm

Digital Single Lens Reflex (SLR) cameras are excellent cameras that produce clearer, sharper and more colourful images than most point and shoot digital cameras available. With prices falling rapidly, they are now more affordable then ever. With the price gap between an entry model digital SLR camera and the most expensive compact digital camera narrowing; the question is… do I spend the extra money and get a Digital SLR camera? or save a few hundred dollars and purchase the best digital compact camera.

Well, it really depends on your budget; however if you do spend the extra money, here’s what you get:

In addition to the price falls in the Digital SLR models, the performance on these cameras has increased year on year with the latest Digital SLR cameras being quicker and faster than ever before. They have improved to such an extent that power up or start-up time is near instantaneous with virtually no lag time. “Lag time is the time between you pressing the shutter release button and the camera actually taking the shot”. This delay can vary quite a bit between different camera models and it is one of the biggest drawbacks compared to a compact digital camera. The latest digital SLR cameras have virtually no lag times and react in the same way as conventional film cameras, even in burst mode. Compact digital cameras are catching up; however the difference is still significant. A lag time of ~0.5 seconds can result in you missing the heartbeat of the moment and hence that potential great picture.

Digital SLR camera also has a larger sensor versus a smaller sensor in a compact digital camera. This equates to higher sensitivity and less noise and results in the camera taking clearer pictures in low light. (They also have better autofocus speed in low light as well). A measure of sensitivity in a digital camera is ISO and a typical ISO range for a Digital SLR camera varies from ISO 100 – 1600 with the latter being more sensitive. The ISO range for a compact digital camera varies from ISO 50 – 400. In summary, the higher the ISO rating, the greater the sensitivity and the better the photo can be taken in low light.

The Digital SLR cameras have a much longer battery life due to the limited use of the LCD screen. Please note, that as the LCD screen is only used for viewing the image, the battery life of a digital SLR can allow up to 2000 shots per charge in some cameras compared to 500 for a good point and shoot digital camera.

Digital SLR cameras also allow you to interchange lens such as adding a zoom or macro lens when required.

On the negative side of a Digital SLR camera; They are usually larger and heavier than compact digital cameras, the image cannot be previewed on the LCD screen prior taking the picture. If you really require the image to be viewed on the LCD prior to taking the picture, there are third party manufacturers that produce LCD screens that attaches to the viewfinder and allow the scene to be view just like a compact digital camera. The other drawback is the inability to take videos and finally, lenses are expensive with the majority costing more than the camera itself.

Although compact digital cameras cannot compete on features with a Digital SLR camera, they are great value, have the ability to take videos and are portable. If you have decided to purchase a Digital SLR camera I recommend you visit infodigitalcamera.com to find additional information on Digital SLR camera. If you are still undecided, purchase both.
