Why “Content is King” to Search Engines

Filed under: Traffic Hall — admin @ 2:54 pm

Content is King! Have you heard that saying yet? Search engine experts are practically using it as a mantra. What does it mean and why is it true?

In the context of websites and search engines, when experts say that content is king, they mean that building additional pages of text is one of the best things you can do to improve your search engine rankings and number of visitors. Anyone that has attended any of my classes or asked me to work on their internet marketing has heard me include this in my recommendations. In fact, I tell everyone that search engine optimization (SEO) basically comes down to three factors: On-page factors, linking, and content. Most people generally think of the first two when trying to rank better.

So why is content so important?

For starters, search engines don’t rank websites, they rank web pages.

Read that sentence again and think about it for a moment. What it means is that the more pages you make on your site, the more chances you have of any of those pages ranking better. To start with, it’s simply a law of averages. To illustrate, if you want to win a raffle, you might buy more tickets. The more opportunities you have, the higher probability of coming out on top. Of course, this is over-simplifying a little. After all, you can buy a whole lot of lottery tickets (which I don’t recommend) and will still typically lose the lottery.

To increase your chances, each page of content should center around a keyword phrase or two. Use that phrase several times within the text. Use it in the Title tag and in a heading or two. Now repeat that process over and over again. Make a page of content every day if at all possible. If not, make one per week. This is work that will definitely pay off over time.

As a side-benefit, content can also be distributed to other sites and newsletters. Put a nice bio about yourself and a link to your website at the bottom, and you are on your way to gaining traffic and growing links. Another nice side-benefit is that if your content is good, others will link to you. And we all know how important inbound linking is to search engines.

So what exactly is content? What pages of content could you make for your site? We’ll discuss this in a future newsletter.

Deciding on the Finest High Speed Internet Access Offer

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 1:48 pm

When surfers are researching the fast broadband landscape surfers might well feel overwhelmed. The broadband market is saturated with internet providers offering multiple packages with ultra fast upload speeds and download allocations.

Clients might often desire to look up each and every high speed internet business directly to find out what broadband packages the business offer, download speeds they offer and the firm’s conditions and terms. If customers want to find out this broadband information in one website clients may wish to look at an internet comparison website.

If clients presently have a high speed internet company and desire to use a faster corporation then nothing should deter you from trying a different company, especially if a benefit is to be made. Broadband comparison corporations may be able to guide customers through the process and what steps should be taken.

When surfers are researching for the very best offer money may not be the main deciding factor. Many broadband firms will promote a really low entry deal to entice potential customers over to them. When internet packages are remarkably low in price please make sure you ascertain what speed the broadband firm will provide, what download allocation you yourself will be provided with and also the terms of the contract. The download limits is key as innumerable internet providers will often charge customers per GB that potential customers go over, so if your package has an 8GB download allocation and you yourself download 10 scary movies that month, you are more than likely to have downloaded 10 Gigabytes (i.e. one GB per movie) – that is 2GB’s more than your download allocation, and which is 2GB worth of downloads the organisation will bill over and above your monthly package cost.

When seeking the most appropriate offer please of course check whether or not the business will charge a connection fee and if there are any costs associated with being offered a wireless internet router. All of these extra charges will probably all mount up and browsers might well be left with little savings when compared to other broadband packages. Find Orange broadband deals all in one place and see what package suits you.

Thankfully, high speed internet access comparison corporations will probably flag up any extra costs and potential customers can make an informed and advised decision.

Understanding Rochester NY Real Estate

Filed under: Economy + Finance, Making Money, Real Estate — admin @ 3:38 am

The best part of living in upstate NY is its beautiful. The second beast part is the property taxes are really good. When we began looking at Rochester NY real estate I was thrilled when the real estate agent told us the property taxes for the different homes we were considering. We have lived in Texas and Florida and the taxes in those areas have sky rocketed in the last few years. The idea that and area of NY would be reasonable… The Rochester area has a wonderful small town feel and yet it is located not far from some major cities and those property taxes…wow.

Buying a new home can be stressful but very exciting too. The Rochester NY real estate market has so much to offer that the most stressful part is trying to decide on a home to buy. Are you looking for a fixer upper of a new construction home? Maybe you want a town home or a condominium as your next home? This is an area of the country that offers all that and more. Rochester is a great place to raise kids or to retire. Long lazy Sunday afternoons and quaint shopping excursions are on the agenda in this beautiful part of the country.

CRM in SmallBiz: Disappointing Misconceptions

Filed under: House Of Marketing — admin @ 10:44 pm

In the last few months there has been quite a lot of discussion
on CRM (customer relationship management) solutions in the forums
and ezines. Although it is extremely positive that people finally
started to talk about the one concept that will make the future
of a business successful or unsuccessful, there are quite a few
misconceptions about the term. Those misconceptions make people
lose time and energy finding solutions in areas they should not
be even searching, instead in concentrating on the really
important things.

First, the simplest and the least obvious: Customer Relationship
Management is about RELATIONS between people (yes, business is
done by people, not companies). It is NOT technology. Business
did exist before computers, so relations between business people
existed before computers, i.e. CRM was not invented with the
invention of computers (just the name CRM was). The good
practices of relating with your customer did not become obsolete
with the introduction of computers, though the TOOLS changed. So
we use the same practices, but we take advantage of the
possibilities that technology gives. It certainly is a different
experience for the buyer if he is met on the web site by a human
voice or keyboard chat (LivePerson, FireTalk, HumanClick) which
is what technology now makes possible. The technology enables us
to see how the customer is navigating through the site, and, if
we want to, interrupt him and offer assistance. But I wonder
whether the customer will welcome that. If you are a salesman in
a brick and mortar store, you would watch the expression of the
customer and, based on that, decide to approach him or not.
On the net you cannot see his face (it’s questionable if
he’ll let you even if possible). In any case, CRM is NOT
technology, so you will not find your CRM solution among SW
vendors. Which brings us to the misconception number two.

Business people tend to search for a CRM solution among SW
developers and vendors. “They know the technology, which I (the
business manager) don’t know, so they will know my needs and
how to implement it”. If a business manager would object to such
a suggestion he would be labeled “old” and “overdue”. In today
fast business lane, fortunes are made fast, and young managers
tend to “buy” a CRM software solution. CRM should already be in
place, functioning, BEFORE starting IT implementation (who has
to forward which info to whom to be ready for who, when? Who has
to respond to what in how much time?). CRM Software solution is
only a TOOL for procedures already in place. Let me draw a
parallel.

With the invention of cars, the way we conduct business changed.
We could do much more business and do it better. But never once,
it occurred to us to let auto designers lead and ENFORCE the way
we are building relations with our customers. So why does
everybody think that software designers are capable of that?
They might be brilliant SW developers, but still they wouldn’t
know how to better customer retention in a company manufacturing
furniture. So why do we try to do that? Because it is easier not
to lose time over enforcement of customer retention rules in our
own company, when we can pay someone to do it. Because we have
the money, but we don’t have TIME. Well, we can’t do that. We
cannot avoid our involvement in the process (and our hours, of
course), although I know most of you didn’t want to hear this.
Which brings us to the misconception number three.

You search for an SW solution for your CRM, buy it, and let
those people do their job. As good manager, you organize weekly
meetings to have your finger on things. Because you selected a
SW vendor which is a respectable company, the first thing those
people do, is to organize internal audit. They pass out forms to
people in different departments, to find out exactly what are
the needs of different parts of your company. Alternatively,
they conduct interviews. And that is good. That is much better
then them trying to force their “proven” flow of documentation
upon your company. But what they are actually doing is LEARNING
the way your company functions. And the teaching is done by
people who work in each department, that most probably, don’t
have the whole picture. So the integration of the whole picture
is done by the SW vendor. Can they learn in a fortnight or a
month?

I would suggest another approach. Find an “oldie” within your
company, preferably one year from retirement. The one that does
know how your company lives, who preferably worked a bit in
sales, a bit in procurement and a bit in support or reclamation.
If he doesn’t like computers, all the better. If he later likes
the results, you can be sure everyone else will. Assign him full
time as a liaison, and let him guide the implementation. Have
everyone know all the doors must be kept open for him. Remember,
CRM implementation is about KNOWLEDGE of how your company
functions. It is about how EXISTING customer care procedures
(remember misconception number one?) are automated (complemented,
modified) by computers. And if there is no such person(s) within
your company? Well, that leaves YOU. I bet you didn’t want to
hear this, but remember that everyday customer relation
procedures will be done by your people, not the SW vendor.
Which brings us to misconception number four.

CRM is sales automation. No, no, no, it is customer support. No,
no, no, it’s the lady who says hello answering the phone on the
helpdesk. No, no, no, it’s the operator who chats with the
potential customer on the web site. Actually, it is all of the
above. In a company, sales people seldom talk with the support
people. And vice versa. As if those were two different
non competing companies so they have little to talk about. Last
few months everybody talks about customer retention. Which is
normal as it is much easier and cheaper to sell again to an
existing customer, than to get a new one. But only if he
received good customer support and service, that is. So a good
CRM SW solution would have some data common to everybody (name,
address, phone, etc), but also data needed by sales,
procurement, helpdesk and support. This does not mean you have
to have an ERP system, it just means that you need some extra
fields which are specific to each department. Ideally, you
yourself would be able to add some extra fields as needed,
without becoming a programmer. Which brings us to misconception
number five.

After the first year of coughing and hiccuping, your CRM
solution is finally in place and humming nicely. You are getting
all that nice data you needed, and you are finally able to watch
and build your customer relations. So you are home and free. If
you need an extra report, or an extra field, you’ll call the SW
vendor and he will make the necessary changes. Well, that’s not
entirely true. The life of your company is not static. It
changes daily. The same way, your CRM solution cannot be static.
If your sales person needs to call an IT liaison, explain to him
the change he needs, then to the SW developer, then wait for
implementation, you can be sure that he will not do it. He will
rather scribble it into his note book or the Excel sheet on
his notebook. He should be able to do just that in your CRM
solution. Which means you should have a modifiable solution, one
in which you can add fields and tell the system how to handle
them. But that means you will have to invest time to learn how
to do it. Or leave it for later when you will have more time.
Which is misconception number six.

People tend to search for a CRM software solution when they
cannot cope any more with the traffic. By then, it is too late.
It is late in the sense that you have to implement a solution in
which you have to invests time, and time you don’t have. That
means that the implementation will be much longer, it will cost
much more in hours, lost business, poor customer service, which
means you will spend more hours dealing with a customer, you
will have less hours in sales, you will have to hire more
people… There is no nice way to tell you, so I will say it
straight out: You should start implementing a CRM system, the
moment you start using PC in promotion and sales. And that is
now, isn’t it?

So what really is the difference between a CRM software system
and old, traditional relations with your customers? Documentation
and analysis. With a CRM software system you have historical data
which you can analyze. Analyzing our customer support data we
found out that about 60% of our helpdesk activity was done with
new customers (within 2 months of purchase) which is normal, but
about 90% of those incidents were trivial questions about simple
use of functions. Although we were issuing three manuals and
giving a six day course to our customers, we decided to issue a
special cookbook for novices, based on the most common questions.
The style was light, simple and straightforward, one page max per
function. It was a double jeopardy. Novice interventions dropped
to about 30% and the customers had a feeling they were driving
the system, not the other way around. So we were both happy. And
that’s called customer satisfaction, right?

World Peace by Meditation: The End of Poverty and Anger, Stress, Tension, Depression, Sorrow, Hate

Filed under: House Of Marketing — admin @ 5:25 pm

One of the worlds greatest Meditators, says Governments can’t eradicate poverty from the Earth. Neither can they bring peace. “To resolve problems through negotiation is a very childish approach,”

A few hundred meditators on either side of a conflict is all that’s needed to create an aura of peace. “We create world consciousness and coherence. Therefore, fighting will stop all over,” “Don’t fight darkness. Bring the light of Meditation, and darkness will disappear.”

• Eliminate poverty? End war and create world peace? The unifying field that Albert Einstein sought has been within us all the time, in the “unbounded consciousness” of the mind. “There is one unity, unified wholeness, total unified consciousness,”

• Tear down major structures and cities — the White House and the United Nations among them – Heal the energies and rebuild them according to energetic architectural plans that harmonize construction with nature.

• Send meditation groups to world hot spots as psychic shock troops whose combined positive energy will dispel negativity, reduce crime, ease conflict and promote world peace.

• Buy billions of acres in 100 developing countries for labor-intensive farming, providing employment and income for the world’s poorest people by feeding the First-World market for organic food.

Meditation is a 20-minute twice daily routine in which the meditator silently focuses on a sound, or mantra, to induce relaxation and “Dive Into A State Of Pure Consciousness And Tap Into The Deepest Resources Of The Brain And Intelligence.”

With Meditation “Anger, Stress, Tension, Depression, Sorrow, Hate, Fear — these things start to retreat,” said American movie director David Lynch of “Twin Peaks” renown, who has practiced Meditation for 32 years. And for a filmmaker, having this negativity lift away is money in the bank. When you’re suffering you can’t create.

Most scientists agree Meditation can ease stress, high blood pressure, pain and insomnia. Meditation has gained legitimacy. The National Institutes of Health has had a Center for Complimentary and Alternative Medicine since 1998 to research these practices.

Associate Yourself to Success and Increased Sales

Filed under: House Of Marketing — admin @ 11:44 am

Association is a powerful tool in helping you influence and persuade your audience. If used correctly, you will be able to create the desired feelings, emotions, and behavior in your prospects. It is in this way that you can use association to bring about the best experiences and create a persuasive environment. Whatever your subject is drawn to, impressed by, or desirous of, seek to incorporate it into your message, your product, or your service.

The Law of Association is constantly at work. If an audience likes a picture, a logo, or a musical jingle that appears in an advertisement for a product, they also tend to like the product. Why is it we must dress up for a job interview? It is because we know a slovenly appearance will bring into bearing certain unwanted assumptions or associations about us. Have you ever heard about past cultures where the messenger was actually killed when he brought back bad news? Why do you think it is that restaurants decorate a certain way, have their lighting a certain way, and play certain types of music? All these things are defined in the Law of Association.

I remember having a corporate credit card when I was working for a certain unnamed corporation. The company had a nasty habit of not paying their bills. One day I got a phone call from a collection agency claiming that because my name was on the credit card, I was responsible for making the payments due. I informed the representative of the situation, but he was quite persistent. Of course, I was not responsible, but the interesting association was that the representative’s name was Thor, the god of thunder (or so he said). The point is that if you want to create the feeling of a tough, persistent, strong person, then Thor is the perfect name to go by. Suppose his name had been Stanley or Herbert or Shannon instead? Not quite as threatening, are they?

Everyone persuades for a living. There’s no way around it. Whether you’re a sales professional, an entrepreneur, or even a stay at home parent, if you are unable to convince others to your way of thinking, you will be constantly left behind. Get your free reports at Success Advantage to make sure that you are not left watching others pass you on the road to success. Donald Trump said it best, “Study the art of persuasion. Practice it. Develop an understanding of its profound value across all aspects of life.”

We all know what endorsements are: Companies use famous people to pitch their products so we’ll associate that individual and their success with the product. For example, Bill Cosby endorses Jell-O and Kodak, Michael Jordan pitches for Nike and Hanes underwear, and Tiger Woods does ads for Titleist golf balls and Buick automobile. We tend to like products, services, and ideas that are endorsed by people we like, regardless of the quality of the product. Sometimes, we will even buy a product for the first time simply based on a celebrity endorsement.

We naturally want to be associated with fame, fortune, and success. That is why we follow the lead of celebrities we admire, respect, and like. It’s also why we use the products they endorse. It is amazing to see teenagers ignore their parents’ warnings about drugs, but when their favorite star or professional athlete says it’s not cool, they stop. This is the power of association.

All in all, the use of celebrities to endorse products is one of the most popular and effective associations marketers and advertisers use. Why do corporations spend tremendous resources to find the right spokesperson to bring the right association to their products? We hold our beliefs and attitudes to define and make sense of who we are. By shaving with the right razor or eating the right cereal, we are saying, “I am just like that ball player; I am part of the attractive “in group.” By purchasing the “right stuff,” we enhance our own egos. We rationalize away our inadequacies as we become just like our favorite celebrity.”

The critical factor in using a celebrity endorsement is creating an emotional tie or association between the consumer and the athlete/celebrity. The athlete or celebrity’s positive associations have been transferred to the product or service. Wearing the same shoes or driving the same car as their hero allows consumers to identify and associate with their idols.

There is a downside to using celebrities to promote products and services, however. Anytime a celebrity gets negative press, that association also tends to carry over to the products and companies they promote. In such cases, depending on the severity of the circumstances, the celebrities are usually dropped like hot potatoes. Michael Jackson was once an endorser for Pepsi until he was accused of child molestation. The company was quick to pair its product with someone else. Tonya Harding, the Olympic figure skater, was a Nike endorser until she was convicted of assault on fellow skater Nancy Kerrigan. Mike Tyson was also an endorser for Pepsi until he was convicted of rape. O.J. Simpson was once the spokesman for Hertz car rentals until he went on trial for a double murder.

Application Questions

Who could endorse your product, service, or cause that will create the right association?

Who or what affiliations do you generate with your product, service, or cause?
-i.e. images, feelings, attitudes

What could you sponsor or display to generate a positive association for your product or company?

Conclusion

Persuasion is the missing puzzle piece that will crack the code to dramatically increase your income, improve your relationships, and help you get what you want, when you want, and win friends for life. Ask yourself how much money and income you have lost because of your inability to persuade and influence. Think about it. Sure you’ve seen some success, but think of the times you couldn’t get it done. Has there ever been a time when you did not get your point across? Were you unable to convince someone to do something? Have you reached your full potential? Are you able to motivate yourself and others to achieve more and accomplish their goals? What about your relationships? Imagine being able to overcome objections before they happen, know what your prospect is thinking and feeling, feel more confident in your ability to persuade.

Kurt Mortensen’s trademark is Magnetic Persuasion; rather than convincing others, he teaches that you should attract them, just like a magnet attracts metal filings. He teaches that sales have changed and the consumer has become exponentially more skeptical and cynical within the last five years. Most persuaders are using only 2 or 3 persuasion techniques when there are actually 120 available!

Microsoft Dynamics GP – Renovated Microsoft Business Solutions Great Plains ERP

Filed under: House Of Marketing — admin @ 11:03 am

Microsoft Business Solutions Great Plains is now renamed into Microsoft Dynamics GP, as well as Microsoft Navision into Microsoft Dynamics NAV, Microsoft Axapta into Microsoft Dynamics AX, Microsoft Solomon into Microsoft Dynamics SL and Microsoft CRM into Microsoft Dynamcis CRM. Of course Microsoft has the plan to select the most marketing attractive name for its ERP products, however the other side of the renaming may be in the plan to move Project Green forward. At the final phase of Project Green Microsoft might drop GP, NAV, AX, SL and CRM extensions and make final version name to be simply Microsoft Dynamics. Interesting fact that Great Plains Software, which was the first candidate for Microsoft ERP software acquisition had Great Plains Dynamics brand, so probably Microsoft is plying retrospection card, in any case Microsoft technically owns GPS Dynamics brand anyway. In this small article we will give our retro view on Great Plains Dynamics customization, development and reporting.

1. Great Plains Dexterity – this is proprietary programming language and technology, designed back to earlier 1990th with the goal to build platform independent graphical accounting package – Great Plains Dynamics. Dexterity itself is written in C (following popular those days hope – that C will provide platform independence). You can install Dexterity from Great Plains 7.5 CD #2. Obviously it requires a lot of learning / training, but it allows your custom piece be seamlessly integrated with Great Plains interface. Nowadays, however – and this is a good thing – most of Great Plains installations are moved to SQL Server – so you can use Dexterity for custom forms drawing only and make the buttons run SQL stored procedures.

2. Modifier with VBA. Unfortunately you have to purchase this tool and get new registration keys. If you are familiar with VBA customization for Access or Excel – you have all the skills needed – then you just attach your scripts to the buttons and fields on GP forms (you can modify these forms with Modifier – or just tough them with it).

3. Continuum for VB/Delphi – we don’t recommend this tool, because it is using Great Plains as OLE server – and you probably don’t want to be trapped by old technology.

4. Crystal Reports. Great Plains has its own ReportWriter, but its functionality is limited – you can’t do cross modules reports (you can’t link Sales and Purchasing tables in one report, for example). So – you use Crystal. The GP tables structure is in Tools->Resource Description->Tables … and you are in control. Feel free to create views and stored procs directly in the companies databases – it doesn’t hurt the Dexterity engine

5. Direct web publishing from Great Plains SQL databases, using Visual Studio.net and your language of choice (VB.Net, C#, J#, etc). Plus you probably want to have several SQL stored

Budget Gaming Notebooks Probably on the Way

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 7:51 pm

Gaming laptops used to only be attainable from certain manufacturers. The laptops were sold in low numbers but each unit had a massive profit margin. These popular notebook computers were just not affordable. They the the latest technology and just the best laptops. Even though they did get people thrilled I don’t believe they sold well because not many people actually buy laptops that are overpriced. As the big computer companies distinguish the potential revenues in gaming notebooks, the market is shifting.

These are definitely big margin items for the international companies and they know it. This would be a crucial strategy to make respectable profits for them. With their bottomless marketing resources I’m confident they can sway anyone to buy laptops like these. Do the local guys even stand a chance with this type of threat? I know for sure that gaming notebooks will become greatly accessible for many. In my view if anyone’s decided to spend a lot of cash the well known brand always comes out on top.

The established brands latest notebook computers are receiving a lot of awards as being the best laptops from the press. This surely should provide some encouragement to the smaller companies. Majority of the time the pre made notebook computers are powerful however not powerful enough and some customers don’t take well to that. Buyers of this sort are generally very educated with regards to the technology at hand, and so are able to do like for like comparisons. For a few purchasers, the tech specs and performance could be much more important compared to style.

Plainly what’s happening here should benefit consumers in the long run. It will cause prices to slip and make premium technology low cost for the market. Even though that’s my take on it, its just my opinion and probably not what will occur. The best laptops are always going to be out of reach if I’m telling the truth. I think we’ll have to see if this saturation makes any major benefits for gamers.

How do I know what is the best Second Mortgage Home Loan for me?

Filed under: House Of Marketing — admin @ 8:04 am

The information in your credit history helps mortgage lenders decide how much credit and what interest rate you are eligible for, and then match it to a bad credit home loan. The better your credit history, the more likely you are to qualify for the best credit deals.
The first step is to understand if you are considered a credit risk. Most lenders will consider you a higher credit risk only if your credit report states that you have more late and slow payments than what is shown below:

Revolving credit (i.e. credit cards): No payments 60 days or more past due and no more than two payments 30 days past due.

Installment credit (i.e. car loans): No payments 60 days or more past due and no more than one payment 30 days past due.

Housing debt (i.e. mortgages and rent): No payments past due. This can be proven by providing (borrower’s) canceled checks for the past 12 months or a loan payment history from the mortgage service.

OK, so you have bad credit, but how bad is it? The very first step to obtaining a bad credit home loan is to obtain a credit report, along with your credit scores. There are 3 main credit reporting agencies used by the mortgage Industry and they too will usually pull a credit report. Then the credit score contained within the credit report is used to determine your credit worthiness. And all this will determine which of the bad credit home loan products would suit you.

First you need to determine how long you need the second mortgage home loan for. Some second mortgage home loans may extend for as long as 15 or 20 years; others may require repayment in one year.

Be sure you understand how much your second mortgage home loan monthly payments will be and what they cover. Your mortgage company should be able to give you this information in advance. With some second mortgage home loans, you’ll be required to make monthly payments on the principal and interest. With other loans, you may be required to pay interest only on the borrowed amount.

Many companies will charge a fee for lending you money. The fee is usually a percentage of the second mortgage home loan and is sometimes referred to as “points.” The number of points mortgage companies charge varies, so it may be worthwhile to shop around. If the fee seems too high, you may be able to bargain for or find a lower fee. Be sure to get the amount of the fee in writing before you take the second mortgage home loan.

If you have a fixed rate loan, the interest rate is set for the life of the loan. However, many companies offer variable rate mortgages, also known as adjustable rate mortgages or ARMs. These provide for periodic interest-rate adjustments.

I have had over a dozen loans in the past three years including bad credit mortgages due to a bad credit history. This information comes from my experiences, good and bad but are proven strategies to get out of debt and make some real gains.
